GenoLogics Unveils Clarity LIMS for CLIA-Certified Next Generation Sequencing Labs

GenoLogics Unveils Clarity LIMS for CLIA-Certified Next Generation Sequencing Labs

Clarity LIMS brings intuitive interface and lab management essentials to regulated labs

VIENNA, Austria – Bio-IT World Europe Conference – October 9, 2012 – GenoLogics Life Sciences Software, a leading provider of laboratory information management systems (LIMS) designed for today’s omics labs, unveiled Clarity LIMS, a revolutionary LIMS that sets the bar for LIMS in clinical and research environments. Specifically designed for sequencing, Clarity LIMS is an intuitive lab management system that combines information management essentials for CLIA-certified and regulated labs with a clear and easy-to-navigate interface that scientists will want to use.

Clarity LIMS offers support for clinical lab directors as they work on achieving or maintaining CLIA certification. Specifically, Clarity LIMS assists lab directors with workflow enforcement, adherence to standard operating procedures and handling the complexities of next-generation sequencing (NGS). Designed to manage the flow of samples through the lab, the new role-optimized interface will become a planning tool thereby enhancing lab efficiency.

“The Clarity LIMS interface is highly intuitive, largely because it is set up to follow the logical flow of a sample moving through the wet lab,” stated Marc Laurent, Director of Genomic Services at Illumina, a Clarity LIMS customer. “This aspect, coupled with the fact that it can be used for planning lab work will significantly increase user adoption. We have looked at many LIMS over the past few years, and the Clarity LIMS user experience surpasses all others.”

“Clearly a lot of thought has been put into making the interface as intuitive and friendly as possible even for complex processing steps. It’s nicely executed too ─ the interface looks and behaves great,” stated Conrad Leonard, bioinformatics engineer at Queensland Center for Medical Genomics.

“The launch of Clarity LIMS is timely, given the speed at which the sequencing market is moving into the clinical space,” noted Tristan Orpin, Illumina’s Senior Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer and a member of GenoLogics’ Board of Directors. “The new GenoLogics software tightly integrates to our sequencing instruments and includes support for all of our standard workflows and kits. We see great growth potential in the clinical market for products like this that ease the transition of NGS into the clinic.”

Customers have been providing real-time feedback on Clarity LIMS to GenoLogics development team over the last year.  Clarity LIMS is now commercially available and GenoLogics has already secured commitments from four labs to implement Clarity LIMS.

“In designing and building Clarity LIMS, GenoLogics drew on more than a decade of experience developing software for omics technologies,” said Michael Ball, CEO of GenoLogics. “We relentlessly focused on ways to empower customers working in regulated NGS laboratories and to provide a system that simplifies the tracking of these complex technologies by providing an intuitive interface. Lab directors who choose Clarity LIMS will see immediate tangible value out of their investment. Not only does Clarity LIMS raise the bar in terms of support for regulated environments, but lab staff will actually enjoy using it.”
